How Kettlebell Kitchen Changed Lauren Gill’s Life

Kettlebell Kitchen

Lauren Gill first heard of Kettlebell Kitchen (KBK) while she trained at CrossFit Queens.

The fridges at the gym sparked her interest. She knew the company aligned with her own nutrition philosophy, in both mission and food.

“My nutritional philosophy can be summed up in one word: balance,” explained Gill. “I feel the key to finding that happy medium where we can be confident with ourselves and our nutritional choices on a daily basis lies within creating a sustainable, goal-oriented lifestyle.”

Last March, she was approached about a potential position with KBK, and Gill jumped at the opportunity.

Currently, she is the macro and nutrition specialist on the Kettlebell Kitchen nutrition team. Here, Gill shares about her nutrition journey, KBK and everything else you need to know about the company as an Affiliate.

BP: Why did you become a nutrition coach?

LG: My own journey to wellness began eight years ago after gaining weight due to an injury and overall poor nutrition. After trial and error, I found a method that worked, which eventually became the root of my nutritional philosophy, and I wanted to share what I experienced and learned with others.

BP: What makes KBK different than other meal companies out there?

LG: We put a lot of thought into everything we do. Whether it’s the new recipes we’re creating, what kind of ingredients to use, all the way down to our delivery method — we put 100 percent effort into making KBK the best it can be for our customers.

The scope of the meal plans we offer cater to such a wide variety of people as well. We also have an experienced nutrition team with diverse backgrounds and specialties ranging from more holistic approaches to performance nutrition. We believe in providing support for everyone, which is why we offer our meal plan customers a free nutrition consultation, as well as follow-ups to make sure they stay on track with their goals.

BP: What do you like about them and working for them?

LG: It truly is special to be surrounded by a group of like-minded individuals who are just as passionate and enthusiastic about nutrition as I am. I get to do what I love every day and make a difference in people’s lives at the same time; it’s a great feeling.

It’s also fun to be able to nerd out and talk about nutrition with my co-workers. Macros are a frequent lunchtime discussion at our office.

BP: How did you find KBK beneficial in your CrossFit training?

LG: I train anywhere from two to three hours a day in addition to working full time and co-running a nutrition program at CrossFit Queens. I am very dedicated to my nutrition because it helps me perform my best during my training, but it’s often difficult for me to find time to meal prep. KBK steps in to save the day, because it fuels me properly and saves me so much time, allowing me to focus on other important things. That is what’s great about KBK — it’s quick and easy and clean. Often, foods that are convenient are also processed and full of ingredients that aren’t good for our bodies, but that’s not the case with KBK.

BP: What should CrossFit owners know about KBK and how it can help their members?

LG: Nutrition should be valued as an integral part of progress within the gym. Being properly fueled for workouts is critical when it comes to seeing results. Kettlebell Kitchen’s wide variety of meal plans can help athletes of all levels reach their goals, whether it be weight loss, gaining lean mass or supporting longer training sessions. There is something for everyone to help round out their nutrition and perform at their best.
