When you first start your CrossFit Affiliate, the excitement is overwhelming.
You are so passionate about CrossFit and all it’s done for your own personal fitness and you can’t wait to help other people experience the same results. You open up your doors and imagine the flood of new members coming in on a daily basis, ready and eager to workout.
Then a few months or even a year goes by, and you soon realize that just opening a CrossFit Affiliate and being passionate about CrossFit isn’t going to make your business successful. You have to learn and grow as a business owner.
Having talked to hundreds of Box owners over the last year and a half, I can tell you this is an extremely common situation that is very frustrating.
But I have good news: You can turn things around!
In fact, I wanted to share with you five tips you can use right now to grow your Box and business:
That may seem like a very random place to start when it comes to growing your business, but hear me out. Every single Box owner has an email list, and very few utilize them, which is why it’s the first thing I have my coaching clients do.
When you organize your lists of emails into three categories of current clients, prospects and past clients, you’ll then be able to email those lists.
You’d be amazed how many old members will come back, new members stay longer and prospects come into your gym when you start to email consistently.
When people think about how to grow their business, retention is often overlooked. Remember, you can’t grow your business if you are losing people on a consistent basis. The best way to keep your members around for a longer period of time is to keep them happy and getting results.
Love them up, reach out to them and strive to make it the best hour of their day.
When it comes to getting people to go from prospects to paying clients, they need to first know, like and trust you. In most cases, the reason why someone doesn’t join right away is because of that, so make sure to make it is a priority in your marketing to get personal:
Share your daily activities even if it has nothing to do with CrossFit, give great valuable content for free and post daily. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people walk into my Box and say, “I feel like I already know you!” That is the feeling you want to get from people walking in the door.
When you first start out as a Box owner, you are going to wear a lot of “hats.” The marketing hat, the cleaning hat, the coaching hat, etc.
However, if you are wearing all of those hats after a year or more then it’s time to start delegating.
Start by making two lists. One list should be all the tasks you can outsource. The other list should be all tasks you can’t outsource.
Once you have those two lists, chip away at assigning people to do those tasks that can be outsourced. Think about it: Things like coaching, cleaning the floors and accounting work can be outsourced.
Time is extremely valuable and if you can pay someone $20 to do a job, that frees up an hour for you to make much more than $20 for your business.
I’ve saved the best tip for last. If you want to be successful in your business, you have to take MASSIVE action each and every day.
If you want to be successful in your business, you need to get after it each and every day and you can’t just wait for things to fall into place.
Follow up with every lead that comes in the door, network with local businesses every week, wake up an hour earlier to plan out your week, and get coaching from someone who is where you want to be.
Bottom line: You can be successful if you go out and get after it!
