Lists create an easy reading experience. It’s common for your eyes to scan a paragraph or space out while attempting to comprehend the material. Lists tap into our preferred way of receiving and organizing information.
Bullet points force you to be concise and direct with your points. Look at the paragraphs you have already written — is there any way you could have shortened the list into a bulleted format?
Everyone lives in a state of fear of coming off as too direct or cold in their emails. You might add exclamation points or extra words to come off warm and friendly. Sometimes, however, it can be hard for readers to wade through fluff in order to get to your point.
Type out a test email. How many times are you using the words “I think,” to explain something? It’s assumed this is what you think, you are the one writing the email. Try to strip down your emails to get to the parts that really matters.
How often do you see a catchy or funny subject line for an email and automatically click it because you just have to see what direction it will go in? Getting clients to click your email is half the battle assuming they will most likely skim through it once inside.

Giving people too many options can be overwhelming. For example, there are over 30 options of Colgate toothpaste to choose from, which just sounds exhausting to read, let alone choose between.
The same exhaustion can occur when you draft emails. If there is a call to action in every paragraph to a different section of your website it can become tiring for the readers to even decide what they want. Make you email specific enough about one topic that the readers will know why they are reading and if it is applicable to them.
